Selecting "Emoticon", from the Insert menu, will open an "Insert Emoticon" dialog box. Simply select the one you want, and double click it. It will insert the proper character codes into your custom emote. The "Insert Emoticon" dialog box will change its title bar to inform you of what has been added to your custom emote. Once you have finished with the dialog box, click on the X (top right corner of window) to close the dialog box and return to editing.

Emotepad will not show the emoticon’s graphic in your emote. It will only insert the character codes. When you are in a chat room and use the emote, the character codes will be replaced by the proper emoticon.
